Intern Programme; and our FIRST Intern!
Sutherland-Chan Centre is thrilled to announce our RMT Intern programme!
We are very happy to be pioneering this unique programme. We will be accepting one intern at a time, and require that they have a recognized professional Massage Therapy Diploma with a minimum of 1500 training hours. These types of graduates are already Massage Therapists in their own right, and we will take them the last steps to the Canadian registration standard.
Interns will be mentored by two Sutherland-Chan RMTs, while practicing with us here in the clinic. When deemed ready, through a combination of exams and study, they will go to Canada to write the CMTO Registration Exams.
Each Intern candidate will be extensively interviewed by our Clinical Director to determine their readiness for the programme before being accepted. Interns will practice independently, with regular case history review sessions with their mentoring RMT’s, while completing a home study programme.
All Intern treatment fees will be discounted, (therefore treatment packages do not apply) at the following rates; 60min-$675; 45min-$540; 90min-$990.
Our very first Intern will be Sandy Duncan. Sandy received her Diploma in Remedial Massage from T.A.F.E., New South Wales, Australia, in December 2006.
Having grown up in Australia with a very active lifestyle Sandy’s interest in massage and its healing effect began when she tore her hamstring in her early 20's. Massage was one of the modalities that helped her to a full recovery.
Before relocating to Hong Kong, Sandy worked with 2 New South Wales Rugby League Under 18's and Under 16's Representative teams in pre and post game massage. Her focus was on getting young players to understand how to prevent or minimize injuries through massage and self care. Sandy has excellent touch, and gives a great, thorough treatment.
Sandy will be available Mondays and Thursdays from 1230PM to 715PM, as well as filling in as needed. She will be practicing on Saturdays as a fill-in therapist until further notice. Come and give Sandy a try- she is excellent, and it’s about time we had a non-Canadian around!
